Prayer Guide
This is normally the night for our Prayer Gathering, and even though we can’t meet in person, I’m asking us all to gather in our homes at 6:30 p.m. tonight and voice our prayers as the TVCC family to our Awesome God who wants to hear and will answer us as we learned Sunday, “…when we ask, seek, and knock.” Here is a list of prayer needs we can all focus on, after which, you can lift up your individual prayer needs.
Begin with a few moments of pure adoration and praise for who God is. He is Our Father; Hallowed be your name, which means holy, consecrated, sacred, unblemished, sanctified, pure, and completely trustworthy. He is worthy of our praise as we give Him the glory He is due from His children.
Pray for God’s Kingdom; the one we’re in and the one that is coming. Pray that we, as His people, will be focused on accomplishing His will as we live each day according to His Word, faithfully serving His mission and His purpose in all we do. Pray for those who are not yet in God’s Kingdom that they would hear and heed His Word, submitting their lives to Christ Jesus as Lord.
We should pray for healing for our country, which is becoming more and more divisive every day. Intercede for our leaders, both nationally and internationally, state and local, and for those who lead our church family. Continue to pray for Israel, not only as the nation chosen by God, but that many of them will hear the gospel and follow their true Messiah, the Lord Jesus Christ.
Thank Him for our physical provisions of food, clothing, and housing. For having enough to live on and the blessing of being able to help others as we give financially to support the work God has set before us.
Take a moment to confess sins; we all have them. The reason God sent His Son was that He knew we couldn’t live holy enough, perfectly keep His Word, or do enough right things to be forgiven. So, He sent Jesus to pay for our sins and redeem us, making a way back home for us as we surrender to and follow His Word. Forgive others who have wronged us so that we too can be forgiven, enjoying pure fellowship with the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
Pray that we will avoid the dangers of sin. There are times when we will be tested. But God promises there will always be a way of escape; we just have to look for it so that the test doesn’t turn into a temptation to sin because we refuse to “look to Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith.” According to 1 Corinthians 10:13,
“The temptations in your life are no different from what others experience. And God is faithful. He will not allow the temptation to be more than you can stand. When you are tempted, he will show you a way out so that you can endure.” (1 Corinthians 10:13, NLT)
Pray for those who are sick, and for those who are dealing with the death of loved ones.
Then, I ask you to pray for TVCC’s continued journey of carrying out the Great Commission as we “make disciples…teaching them to obey all God’s commands,” knowing that as we do, we have the promise of His presence and power as we continue to reach and grow many faithful followers of our Lord Jesus Christ.
